Almost every other week we welcome someone new to the team. For those of you thinking of joining us we thought now would be as good a time as ever to tell you about the culture of the company, the clients we work for and the people that make up the team. The company was founded in 2005 by David Jeffreys and John Savage, who met and became firm friends while at college. What started off as two friends with a passion for technology has grown into a 48 strong team of IT experts, Software Developers and a supporting cast that works behind the scenes in Operations, Finance, Sales and Marketing.
Who do we work for and what type of work have we done?
We have worked with some of the biggest brands both at home and internationally, including the likes of Munster Rugby, Chill Insurance and AGA. Our team of Software Ninjas developed the autocue system used by American TV shows such as American Idol, The MTV Music Awards and The Academy Awards. They also worked with AGA on an app that can control your oven remotely, and as the business expands into the US we can count a number of US clients on our books. Working hours on the Software team are flexible; nerdy t-shirts and lots of pizza are a must!
Our IT team work on a variety of challenging projects that make working at ActionPoint challenging and exciting. The latest big project is one with Chill Insurance. Our team worked on the move of Chill’s full production IT environment from onsite IT infrastructure to offsite redundant data centre facilities. The project also included a move of all associated services and systems.
Progression and Professional Development
ActionPoint is committed to supporting the development of each engineer’s technical skills through a combination of relevant hands on experience, which is bolstered by a support programme designed to assist engineers in attaining key industry certification (as highlighted below by team members Cathy and Peter). 50% of the Engineers who joined our ranks in the last 2 years have been promoted, with the majority being promoted within 12 months.
In 2013 we started an IT Support Internship and we are thrilled to say that the interns are now permanent members of the ActionPoint Team. Our Software Development division has also hired a number of recent graduates who are gaining experience as part of our mentoring programme where they are partnered with a Senior Developer, from whom they can learn.
Extra Curricular Activities…
Outside of work you might find some of the team at the weekly soccer game, go-karting excursions are becoming more frequent and we also like to do our bit for charity (We did Movember in 2012, and more recently some of us participated in the Great Limerick Run). The Software Team have also been partial to a spot of hovercrafting!

Over the last 3 years the company has started to mushroom; largely due to the good word of longstanding clients. Because of this the team has also grown – in 2012 there were 24 of us, last year there were 33 and as of right now there are 48. By 2015 there will be over 60.
